The flooded quarter of the Shadow Keep: the rooftops to Queelign's Prayer Room, the lever that drains the streets, the drained square, the lift down to Tree-Worship Passage and the rear of the Specimen Storehouse.

The Church District is the flooded east quarter of the Shadow Keep, reached from eastern Scadu Altus. Water fills its streets, and falling in kills you, so the first half is a walk over rooftops. Before you go in, make sure you've made the round of the NPCs in the Scadu Altus section, and that you hold the Prayer Room Key and the Iris of Occultation from the Fort of Reprimand.

Shadow Keep, Church District · Church District – Ride northwest from the Church District Highroad grace into the tunnel, where wolves rise from the grass. Go up the ramp and through the large doorway: the grace is at the end of the long hallway.

The rooftop route, from the Church District Entrance grace: skip the lift on the left, which can't be used yet, and make a running jump northwest onto the roof below. Follow the roofs north-northwest, then take a running jump west to a ledge and hop down north, where burning corpses burst from the ground. Go east, climb the broken wall and jump to the ledge on your right, then leap west-northwest to the roof with a Fire Knight caster. Cross the roofs southwest. From the southeast edge of the last one, jump to the low left end of the buttress below, where it meets the pillar, and walk it southwest up to the big roof. Drop through the nearest hole to the middle ledge, follow the left ledge south, hop into the room there and drop through its floor.

Shadow Keep, Church District · Prayer Room – Where the rooftop route ends, by a corpse and a small crab, go to the wall and turn northeast to the brown door. The Prayer Room Key opens it, and he sits inside.

Queelign takes one Iris, once

He accepts one Iris and then he's gone. This run hands him the Iris of Occultation for his Greatsword. Giving him an Iris of Grace gets the other reward instead and loses the Greatsword until NG+.

Shadow Keep, Church District · Prayer Room – Talk to him in the Prayer Room and give him the Iris of Occultation. He drops the weapon on the spot.

He takes one Iris and leaves, so hand him the Iris of Occultation, not an Iris of Grace.

Shadow Keep, Church District · Church District – From the spot below the roof hole head northwest down the hall, straight on past a Fire Knight, and take the first doorway on the left over a small bridge across the water. Kill the bats, climb the stairs and jump the hard-to-see gap in the narrow walkway. Climb the ladder to the southeast and work the big lever from its right side.

A lift home

Up the stairs east of the big tree, the doorway straight ahead has a lift that links this square with the Church District Entrance grace, so you won't need the rooftops again.

Shadow Keep, Church District · Statue room – Ride the lift just right of Wego's stairs up one floor and jump northwest off it, back into the hallway you first dropped into. Go ahead, looking left, to the Marika statue: sprint, jump and aim for the elbow, then walk the arm to its hand.

Stop at this grace: the fog north of it belongs to a later section. What's left here is the rear of the Specimen Storehouse, the only way to the Shadow Keep's Back Gate.

Shadow Keep · Specimen Storehouse – From the Tree-Worship Passage grace ride the lift up and go southwest, back to the lift right of Wego's stairs. Ride that up, jump northwest into the hallway, take the first right and cross the bridge north to a lift into the rear of the Storehouse. Go through the doorway to the southwest: the grace is just past it.

Shadow Keep · Specimen Storehouse – Jump from the gear to the nearby beam, climb the ladder and kill the Fire Knight casting along the beams, then go to the twin lifts. Send the left one down and step off, send the right one down and step off, then jump on top of the left one as it comes back. From its roof, hop to the ledge above: the ashes are there.

The Back Gate lies past those lifts, and the Scaduview, Hinterland and Jagged Peak section walks it from the Storehouse, Loft grace. Leave it for now: the Cerulean Coast and Charo's Hidden Grave come first.

About this guide

Expect about 230 hours over three runs, in a game where bosses take practice. This route uses no save backups. Run 1 collects everything in the base game and Shadow of the Erdtree, and takes about 170 of those hours. NG+ (about 40) and NG++ (about 20) are shorter runs for the other two endings and the other quest branches, with tougher enemies and some bosses to beat again for remembrance trades. Random drops and free-choice NPC kills never count toward 100%.
