Rykard and West Altus Tower

The last Manor reports, the fight with its lord, the farewells that follow, his rune at the Divine Tower, and the end of Patches' road.

Come back here once the capital and the Mountaintops are behind you, at about level 100 to 120. Bernahl's two targets and the third contract should both be done by now: the warning before the fight lists everything his death closes.

Location
Mt. Gelmir · Manor lobby – Back in the lobby, tell Tanith that Juno Hoslow is dead. She hands it over as your reward.
Why you can lose it
Report the third contract before the lord of the Manor dies. The reward may still land on the drawing-room table after that, but Tanith's steps are over.
Point of no return
Rykard dies.
Summary
Talisman, and the pay for the last contract.

With the third contract reported, look in the drawing room before you take up Tanith's offer. If Diallos is still in his seat, talk to him until his lines repeat and rest at the Volcano Manor grace. Whether he leaves now or after the fight, the farewells later in this section send you to him.

Rykard's death closes the Manor

Check these before the fog. Diallos: Diallos: Academy Gate Town talk, from the South Liurnia section, and a talk in the drawing room if he is still there. Rya: every step up to Rya: hidden alcove. Patches: Patches: Manor shop, letter, his contract on Great Horned Tragoth, the Bull-Goat Set, Patches: Tragoth and the Candlestick and the Magma Whip Candlestick. Tanith: Letter from Volcano Manor, Recusant Finger, Red Letter, all three contracts and their rewards (Scaled Set, Magma Shot, Crepus's Vial, Serpentbone Blade, Juno Hoslow himself with Gesture: Hoslow's Oath and Hoslow's Set, Taker's Cameo). Bernahl: his letter, Bernahl: Vargram and Wilhelm and the Raging Wolf Set. Everything else in the Manor, and his shop, stays open.

Summary
Hit in the gaps between his big swings rather than chasing him. Homing skulls join in from about half health.

The Manor's people leave at the next reload after you speak to them, so go there before anything else. Fast travel to the Volcano Manor grace and talk to Tanith until her lines repeat: that sends her to Rykard's arena, and you meet her again at the end of this section. If Patches is still in the entrance hall, talk to him too.

Bernahl: last talkHidden spoiler – activate to revealQuest stepMinor spoiler
Location
Mt. Gelmir · Drawing room – Fast travel to the Volcano Manor grace, go to the drawing room and talk to him until his lines repeat. Spoken to, he leaves his sword on the seat to run the shop; left alone, he never leaves and never comes after you. If you forget, come back at any time.
Summary
This talk is what sets up his last invasion, and that fight is the way to the Devourer's Scepter, one of the Legendary Armaments.

If the Volcano Manor section left Diallos open, this is the trip back. Should he still be in the drawing room, talk to him until his lines repeat and rest at the Volcano Manor grace. Then fast travel to the Jarburg grace and finish, in order: Diallos: drawing room talks, Jar-Bairn: Diallos in Jarburg, Jar-Bairn: attack on Jarburg, Diallos dying, and Diallos's Mask.

Location
Mt. Gelmir · Cage pit – Fast travel to the Temple of Eiglay grace and ride the wooden lift up, stepping off at the doorway just below the top. Go through the room, out of its window and over the lava to her alcove. Talk until her lines repeat, refuse her again, rest at the grace and come back.
Summary
If you gave her the tonic she sits in the drawing room instead, and leaves only the talisman.

Do not touch Patches at the castle

He lies hurt at the Shaded Castle, and any hit kills him there, whatever the damage. That ends his quest and loses Patches: Dancer's Castanets and Patches: Patches' Crouch, with its gesture. Keep your weapon down and only talk.

Patches: Dancer's CastanetsQuest stepMissablePoint of no return
Location
Altus Plateau · The Shaded Castle – Fast travel to the Castellan's Hall grace and walk back out of Elemer's hall onto the bridge of statues. Patches is slumped against the side, on your left as you face the hall. Talk until his lines repeat: he hands you the castanets for Tanith, then fast travel away so that he can move on.
Why you can lose it
Any hit kills him here.
Point of no return
You hit Patches at the Shaded Castle: any hit kills him.
Summary
Giving them to Tanith does nothing, so the quest needs no trip to her. He has left the Manor because its lord is dead.

Location
Limgrave · Murkwater Cave – Fast travel to the Murkwater Cave grace and walk to his old camp. Open the chest: he jumps down and fights, but block and do not hit back, and he soon stops and begs. Accept, and he teaches the gesture.
Why you can lose it
Killing him at the castle ends the quest before this step.
Point of no return
You hit Patches at the Shaded Castle: any hit kills him.
Summary
Back where it all began. If he is not there, rest and check that he has left the castle bridge.

Tanith comes last because killing her too early can stall Patches. Nothing here counts toward 100%: all three rows need an NPC killed.

About this guide

Expect about 230 hours over three runs, in a game where bosses take practice. This route uses no save backups. Run 1 collects everything in the base game and Shadow of the Erdtree, and takes about 170 of those hours. NG+ (about 40) and NG++ (about 20) are shorter runs for the other two endings and the other quest branches, with tougher enemies and some bosses to beat again for remembrance trades. Random drops and free-choice NPC kills never count toward 100%.
