Up the Tree Sentinels' stairs, through the Sealed Tunnel and along the battlefield road to the Hermit Merchant and the moat, then both Auriza tombs and the gate of the capital.

The outskirts suit level 80 to 90. They lie inside the capital's outer wall, and the way in from the south is the great stairs east of the Altus Highway Junction grace.

Altus Plateau · Crater south of the west gate – From the Outer Wall Phantom Tree grace go back to the gate you came in by. The crater lies directly south of that entrance, you can see it on the Altus map, and the beast is inside.

Altus Plateau · Minor Erdtree Church – Ride on southeast from the camp to the ruined church outside the capital's closed west gate. A Guardian stands near the way in, and you can go around it. The book is just inside, in front of the jar.

Altus Plateau · Lake by the west gate – From the church go north and a little east, then down to the lake beside the capital's west gate, level with the Outer Wall Phantom Tree grace. A short rock tunnel crosses the water. The Teardrop Scarab inside can't be seen, only the prints it leaves: read their path and hit it as it comes to you.

Location
Altus Plateau · Sealed Tunnel – Hit the wall behind that chest and ride the lift down. Past two more false walls to the south a much larger cave opens. Walk out along the big root, hop right onto the wooden platform below it and take the tunnel to a corpse.

Breaks one imp statue seal. The Auriza Hero's Grave needs one, so keep it.

Altus Plateau · Sealed Tunnel – Cross the big cave on the roots to the far wall, step off to the right at a low root and watch for the exploding Lookout Stones. Behind the last one, in a dark hollow at the end of the path, is another false wall. Climb over the roots beyond it and go down by short drops to the arena at the very bottom.

A gravity-magic sorcerer guarding the end of the tunnel.

Altus Plateau · Hill above the shack – Follow the road east and north from the shack to its top end, past the Deathbird's hill. The tear is on an altar there, before you reach the Minor Erdtree.

Don't attack him here, and fight the giant crab in this water well away from him: its death blight can reach him. If he dies now, his Seedbed Curse goes with him.

Altus Plateau · Outer moat – From the Minor Erdtree ride directly south until you reach the moat at the foot of the capital wall. Boggart is cooking by the water. Buy at least one Boiled Crab, then talk to him until his lines repeat.
Why you can lose it
If the Dung Eater invades at the moat before this talk, Boggart's body never carries his curse.

The Dung Eater invades at the outer moat.

Altus Plateau · Auriza Hero's Grave – Go west from the grace and down the chariot slopes, ducking into the alcoves and between the pillars, to the wide ramp where two chariots run side by side. Drop into the gap halfway down it. One Skeleton guards the corpse there.

Altus Plateau · Auriza Hero's Grave – West of the grace, work down the chariot slopes to the wide ramp and zig-zag on to the row of pillars below. A corpse hanging off the left edge marks the spot: drop down the wooden planks in the pit there. They lead to a statue room full of Basilisks, and the ashes are on a corpse in the room beyond.

Altus Plateau · Auriza Hero's Grave – Climb the ladder by the ashes, drop back onto the planks and go one level lower to the narrow stone arches, then follow them to the end and climb the ladder there. Dodge the chariot up the short slope into the chamber on the right and hit the fire-breathing pillar so that it rises, which sets up the next row. Then run down that slope to the bottom and straight on past the Skeletons to the Omen guarding the talisman.

Altus Plateau · Auriza Hero's Grave – Take the lift up at the branch by the Omen's room, go around the raised pillar and drop into the alcove beside the wide ramp. The pillar has opened a sigil on the ramp, and the third chariot it summons smashes into the other two. The Ash is in the wreck.

Altus Plateau · Auriza Side Tomb – Jump out of the window on the left of the first room, take the stairs down past three Fanged Imps, and go through the water room into the cathedral. Follow the raised walkway on the right to the chest and open it: it teleports you to a dead-end room with two large jars and the book. The same chest brings you back.

Chests in this tomb are teleporters, and the boss gate needs a lever. In the cathedral, an alcove on your left as you come in has a false wall with a chest behind it: open it, stay up on the walkway where you land, and take the ladder on the left to a prayer room with another chest. That one puts you near the start. Go straight, turn right, climb to the room of square arches, go around the low wall and up the stairs, then come back down and jump out of the window on your left. Return to the cathedral and open the chest at the front of it: you land in a water room, and the ladder on the right leads up to the lever, in front of a statue on your left.

Grave Warden Duelist (Auriza Side Tomb)Boss

Altus Plateau · Auriza Side Tomb – With the lever pulled, leave the ledge by dropping off it and climb to the upper chest, not the one down in the water room. Where it lands you, go forward, turn right, go around the low wall in the arched room and climb the stairs to the boss gate.

About this guide

Expect about 230 hours over three runs, in a game where bosses take practice. This route uses no save backups. Run 1 collects everything in the base game and Shadow of the Erdtree, and takes about 170 of those hours. NG+ (about 40) and NG++ (about 20) are shorter runs for the other two endings and the other quest branches, with tougher enemies and some bosses to beat again for remembrance trades. Random drops and free-choice NPC kills never count toward 100%.
