From the Shadow Keep's Main Gate and its hidden coffin down to Recluses' River, through the Darklight Catacombs and the Abyssal Woods to Midra's Manse.

Recluses' River is the low canyon of Scadu Altus under Shadow Keep, and the only way in is a hidden coffin beneath the keep's front, past the Golden Hippopotamus. From the river, the Darklight Catacombs lead on to the Abyssal Woods, and Midra's Manse stands at the far end of those. The manse is the hardest part: expect level 150 or more.

Shadow Keep · Main Gate – Ride north from the Highroad Cross grace through the soldiers' camp to the great archway in the keep's front wall. Step on the lift inside it: the grace is at the top.

Shadow Keep · Main Gate Plaza – Get back to the small bridge: take the northeastern doorway and the ladder in the next room up to the fireplace room, or fast travel to the Main Gate Plaza grace and climb the outer stairs again. Cross the bridge, head south past the burning boats, go down the ramp to the right and open the great doors, the shortcut to the Main Gate Plaza grace, then come back up the ramp and go southeast past more boats. Take the ladder by the corpse, go left behind the waterfall and down a second ladder into the room with the painting.

You passed two signs on your way to the ladder. Their rows are in the Shadow Keep and Specimen Storehouse section, where this run takes Hornsent's side, and nothing in this section closes them.

Scadu Altus · Ruins of Unte – From the Castle Watering Hole grace ride south among the dead golems. One gets up near the second-last corpse. If its legs turn your blows, wait for it to bend over and throw Hefty Furnace Pots into its basket.

Location
Scadu Altus · Ruins of Unte – Reach the north side of the Ruins of Unte, climb the small house's stairs and cross the balcony onto the rubble. From its highest point, throw a Hefty Furnace Pot into the basket of the dead-looking Golem at the ruins' door. It wakes and leaves the door clear, and you can kill it.

Scadu Altus · Ruins of Unte – Take the Stone-Sheathed Sword to the altar in the same flowery courtyard: using it there changes the sword into this one. There is only one sword, so it holds one form at a time, and the stone form doesn't come back this run. Its row stays ticked: every form counts, and holding all three at once needs NG+.

Grace: Recluses' River DownstreamAreaDLC: Shadow Of The Erdtree
Location
Scadu Altus · Recluses' River – Walk Torrent south along the cliff road from the Upstream grace, slowly: there's an unmarked gap, and the fall kills. A second gap needs his double jump, and flies guard the rest of the way. At the end of the road, drop to the grace below you to the east.

Shoot the pot before you leave

From the Recluses' River Downstream grace look northeast: a Bell Bearing pot hangs on the rock wall. Knock it down with a bow or a spell now. What falls ends up in the water, and you collect it later on the river loop.

Location
Scadu Altus · Village of Flies – From the Recluses' River Downstream grace go south-southwest with the cliff on your right, dropping down twice. A Curseblade waits in the clearing, which you can pass; turn west up the narrow path into the village. Hug the right wall as it winds southeast to an altar ringed by Man-Flies: the ashes lie on it.

Fast travel back to the Recluses' River Downstream grace. The rest of the river is one loop that ends at the tombstone drop to the Darklight Catacombs.

The Eastern Nameless Mausoleum sits to the left of the next waterfall, marked by two lit braziers. Rakshasa waits inside.

Scadu Altus · Darklight Catacombs – Find the tombstones set in the cliff south of the Recluses' River Downstream grace, drop down them to the lake, and follow the water to the waterfall. On its east side more tombstones lead to the low ground, with militiamen hiding beneath them. Head east along the left wall to the door between two torches: the lift inside takes you to the grace.

Carry a lantern: the catacombs are dark until you pull each level's lever, and every shortcut here is a jump rather than a hidden wall.

Scadu Altus · Darklight Catacombs – From the Darklight Catacombs grace take the hallway on the right to a balcony and the stairs on its left. Past the imps, jump off the ledge on the right instead of taking the next stairs, then pull the lever in the passage under that ledge. Round where the Bigmouth Imp stood, step off the balcony rail onto the ledge below and follow it to the chest.

On the second level, pull the lever up the ladder between the two pillars, then step through the gap in the stair rail onto a thin ledge. In the room beyond, kill the caster on your right: the corpse is across from it.

On the third level a giant Bigmouth Imp fires from a platform: run under it to the north doorway between two torches and pull the lever on the left, which lowers the platform, then kill it. Drop off the platform to the chest.

Torrent throws you off soon after the graveyard and can't be called back. The tall lantern-bearers here, the Aging Untouchables, only take damage after you parry their grab, and their madness builds fast. Crouch in the grass to stay unseen, and avoid the fruit in the bushes: it rattles and brings them running.

Scadutree Fragment (Abyssal Woods)UpgradeDLC: Shadow Of The Erdtree
Location
Abyssal Woods · Woods – From the Abyssal Woods grace go due north past the rats into shallow water, and clear the casters. The corpse sits at the foot of the furthest tree in the southwest corner.

Midra's Manse · Midra's Manse – At the Manse Hall grace hit the painting opposite the locked door to open the way, then follow the hallway through the banquet room and its southeast door to a lever in the twisting passages. Pull it, go back to the new room in the southeast corner, and climb both ladders onto the beams above the entrance hall. Walk west along them to the grace.

Midra's Manse · Midra's Manse – From the Midra's Library grace go down the ladder by the first Inquisitor to the room with the large painting, which is false: hit it and climb to the lever, which slides a bookcase. Go back up and cross the bookcases to the moved shelf, then jump to the balcony where Nanaya's body lies.

Jagged Peak · Mountainside – Fast travel to the Jagged Peak Mountainside grace. Go southwest up the rocks and west-southwest past the drake corpses, ride the Spiritspring south, then follow the narrow path through the lightning to the first broken gap and drop down. Turn north to the grassy ledge and hit the chair that appears with a melee weapon: a ghost leaves the item.

About this guide

Expect about 230 hours over three runs, in a game where bosses take practice. This route uses no save backups. Run 1 collects everything in the base game and Shadow of the Erdtree, and takes about 170 of those hours. NG+ (about 40) and NG++ (about 20) are shorter runs for the other two endings and the other quest branches, with tougher enemies and some bosses to beat again for remembrance trades. Random drops and free-choice NPC kills never count toward 100%.
