A climb through the labs, with Tool 4 behind a shiv door at the end of the first corridor.

Quiet rooms for most of the way, and a fight at the very end. The door at the end of the first corridor takes a whole shiv, and behind it is Tool 4, which has no second spot. The bench near the entrance is the last one until the Bus Depot. A missed pickup can be collected after the credits with Chapter Select, but take the Tool on this pass.

The University · Science Building – From the classroom you climbed into, go through the door on your left. The bench is on the right in that corner room. Open it to register it, even with nothing to spend.

Tool 4 is behind the next door

Have a whole shiv ready: a part-used one won't open it. Take the red toolbox inside, then read the x/5 tracker on Sharpest Tool in the Shed: if it shows less than 4/5, you've missed an earlier Tool. This Tool has no second spot.

The University · Science Building – Leave the bench room for the corridor. Pass the standing light, go through the open door behind it and carry on past the vending machines (you're past this if you took the locker parts). The door is on your right where the hall ends. It takes one whole shiv, so craft a fresh one from a Binding and a Blade first if you need to. Take everything inside.

The University · Science Building – Follow the cables on the floor out to the atrium balcony and along its L shape to the room with the central staircase. When Ellie starts on the crates in front of the stairs, take the prompt on the clipboard and wait for the talk to finish. It looks like an Artefact, so don't walk off. Do this before you go upstairs.

Before the barricaded door

Open the shiv door and take Molotov Deployment and Tool 4, and hear the clipboard talk. Take the Office Recorder, Fungal X-Rays, Lab Recorder and the Sadie Pearle Hickman pendant too. There's nothing to pick up after this door but the recorder the scene gives you. Craft a second whole shiv now and keep it, or hold on to a Binding and a Blade. The next shiv door is a long way on, with few materials before it.

The University · Science Building – Walk on from the lab with the pendant to the barricaded door and go through it, then watch the scene. A fight follows straight after, so craft a Health Kit first and have the shotgun ready.

Location
The University · Science Building – Stealth won't work here. Shoot the far ones from cover, use the shotgun up close, and keep left along the balcony to get behind them. A scene plays at the door. Then shoot the two closest, let the man with the shotgun turn away before you fire, and follow the only path until the chapter ends.

About this guide

One run of the story and one of Left Behind, on any difficulty: no trophy depends on it. The story is one way, so take each pickup before you move on. After the credits, Chapter Select clears anything its menu shows as short, but take the Workbench Tools on the first run: the menu doesn't show them, and one taken on a replay may not count.
