The hunters' ambush and hideout, the overgrown highway, the checkpoint and bookstore, then the flooded street to the Hotel.

Hunters replace the Infected here, so most fights reward patience and a quiet strangle. This stretch holds the second Tool, the last recipe, the first comic you can find and the first three sets of Ellie's jokes. Each joke set needs you to stand still and wait, and each needs hearing to the end. Two shiv doors come close together, so strangle hunters rather than stab them, and carry the Binding and Blades for two whole shivs. A missed pickup can be collected after the credits with Chapter Select, but take the Tool on this pass.

Location
Pittsburgh · Alone and Forsaken – Keep to the left of the square and strangle each hunter once he's walking away. Go down the alley on the right, take the hunter there when he's alone, then enter the bookstore. Stay low behind crates and tables and grab them one at a time, leaving nobody alive: a joke upstairs needs every hunter dead.

After the credits, Chapter Select clears anything its menu shows as short, but take the Workbench Tools on the first run: the menu doesn't show them, and one taken on a replay may not count.
